CEO says Rostelecom working on creation of smartphone

MOSCOW, Mar 6 (PRIME) -- Russian state-controlled telecom operator Rostelecom is working on creation of a smartphone in the wake of an acquisition of a developer of mobile operating system Sailfish, President Mikhail Oseyevsky told reporters on Tuesday.

“Work is under way, but it is still early to speak about it,” Oseyevsky said.

Rostelecom expects the mobile operating system to serve as a basis for a comprehensive solution for various customers.

“Sailfish OS is the solution for creation of an office smartphone with all required options, including connection, e-mail, document turnover, cloud services, and the like. Sailfish OS is the only mobile operating system on the market that can be fully localized and certified up to high levels of security to comply with all requirements of a business,” a Rostelecom spokesperson said.
